The Forensic Mental Health Association of California (FMHAC) has provided support and high quality education to forensic mental health practitioners, judges, attorneys, and law enforcement officers for over 40 years.

It is our goal to:

  • Foster the provision of effective mental health treatment and supervision to persons in the criminal justice system including jails, prisons, state hospitals, and community diversion programs;
  • Enhance the quality of forensic mental health evaluation; and
  • Assist mental health and criminal justice professionals, governmental and private agencies, and the general public in understanding the needs of mentally ill offenders.

Toward this end, FMHAC’s annual conference and one-day trainings provide intensive training in current forensic mental health issues.

FMHAC is a member-based association and encourages professionals who work with justice involved individuals with mental illness to work actively to make improvements in the field.
